This beautiful Beni Ourain rug measures 310cm x 210cm, and has been carefully made by hand, by Ines, a Moroccan Berber tribes woman. The same techniques have been used by these accomplished artisans for centuries. The weaving methods executed by each tribe's woman were handed down from one generation to the next by each talented designer.

Naturally Sourced

This fabulous Berber rug is sourced from The Atlas Mountains of Northern Africa. Its geometric patterns are both artful and captivating, and the primary material it is made from ensures one-of-a-kind handiwork that cannot be copied. Not purely unplanned patterns, the motifs woven by indigenous tribe women are symbols of a vast array of topics, such as fertility rites, meditation rituals, family history, and prayers. Others are good luck symbols or designs believed to ward off evil spirits. All are woven meticulously from handspun wool with great attention to detail. Each rug’s authenticity and quality is guaranteed.

Suitable for all Homes

The fundamental neutral colours used during the making of Berber rugs are natural shades that blend effortlessly with virtually any home interior design. We make various journeys to Morocco several times each year, and choose each Beni Ourain individually to make sure we can offer the best quality to our customers. Interestingly, the business relationship we have built has been mutually beneficial because the rugs are entirely sourced from Berber tribe members, with whom we have an ethical relationship.

Berber Rug Care

You may be surprised at how easily these light-coloured rugs can be maintained. Their easy-to-clean characteristics are due in part to lanolin - this is a substance found in sheep’s wool that creates an organic stain barrier. This greatly slows down any stain from penetrating to the base of the rug. Simply dampen a cloth and wipe in the natural direction of the weave to stop stains in their tracks. However, for a complete, deep cleaning, we recommend using a professional rug cleaner.
