This luxurious Large size authentic Beni Ourain rug measures 290cm x 200cm and was handwoven in The Atlas Mountains by Manal, a traditional Berber Tribe Woman. The rug featured here is the exact rug you will receive since we photograph each Berber rug individually. The abstract design, neutral colours and sumptuously soft hand-spun wool make this striking Berber rug a fail-safe choice as a stunning centrepiece.

Morocco is famous for its original Berber wool rugs, with the weaving reflecting the centuries-old traditions of the Beni Ourain tribes. The symbols and motifs depicted on these fascinating textiles represent different elements of the Berber life including fertility, sexuality, good luck charms, nature, survival and protection. Every Berber Rug that we stock has been sourced from trusted rug dealers in the Atlas mountains who work closely with the Berber Tribes to ensure the highest quality product available.

Ideal For All Interiors

One of the most endearing qualities of Beni Ourain rugs are the simple neutral colour palette used in the weaving of the rugs. The soft ivory background colour has been achieved by sun-bleaching the natural sheeps wool. The design also lends itself well to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Berber Rug Care

Although you may have some doubt about investing in a light coloured rug, it may come as a surprise Berber rugs are relatively low maintenance. The lanolin naturally present in sheeps wool acts as a stain barrier which ensures most minor spills don’t fully penetrate the fiber. This allows for a quick and painless cleanup for most stains allowing them to be easily removed with warm water and a mild detergent.
