This lovely Berber rug measures 440cm x 310cm and has been carefully hand woven by Ahlam, a Berber Moroccan tribe woman. The weaving methods used by these talented and skilled artists have been implemented for hundreds of years, and each weaver hands down her specific techniques to the younger generation.

All-Natural and Hand Selected

The Atlas Mountains in Northern Africa is where this outstanding textile was created. Its unusual, artistic designs and the 100% natural substances from which it is made ensure it is a unique product, unlike mass produced carpets that all look the same. The indigenous symbols and characters are not woven randomly. Rather, they symbolize a broad range of things, such as fertility, history and heritage. Some symbols even depict good luck charms meant to ward off evil. Each symbol and design is meticulously woven with handspun wool, and this guarantees that any rug purchase is authentic, both in its craftsmanship and regarding the materials from which it is made.

Blends With all Decors

If you are concerned about a Beni Ourain rug blending with your existing decor, you will be pleased to discover that the modest, neutral shades used in the creation of these rugs will complement any colour scheme or interior design. We travel to Morocco at different times throughout the year, and it is on these journeys that each rug is carefully hand-selected. We only bring back the highest quality rugs, which are sourced from the indigenous peoples who create them. We have established a sustainable and ethical relationship with the weavers, which we plan to enjoy for many future years.

Berber Rug Care

These light-coloured rugs are not nearly as difficult to maintain as some customers might think. This is because sheep’s wool contains a natural substance called lanolin. Lanolin creates a barrier that is highly resistant to spillage and stains. To remove the latter, simply use a damp cloth and gently rub in the natural direction of the weave. Although stains rarely set in, you may wish to have the rug cleaned by professionals from time to time simply to preserve its beautiful appearance.
